Our New Year's Trip To California

For New Year's Kellen and I went to Southern California to see his Grandpa and my Dad. We spent the first part of the week interviewing Kellen's Papa. Papa lived through the Great Depression and served in World War II in the Navy. He had great stories to share with us and we loved spending time with him. The last part of the week we spent time in Big Bear with my Dad and Nancy. Kellen and my Dad skied in the Torch Light Parade at Snow Summit on New Year's Eve. My Dad has been skiing in the parade for the past couple years and Kellen grew up skiing in a parade at Alta, so this was a great things for them to share together.

After the Torch Light Parade we spent the evening at a local tavern where there was live music. Kellen and I ducked out for a couple of hours and walked through the Village and went ice skating. We rang in the New Year dancing, laughing and having a good time.

We spent the first day of the new year out in the field. My Dad and Nancy took us to some of their favorite places around Big Bear and Kellen explained the geology.
It was a beautiful day to outside.
